Welcome

Welcome

Welcome to Big Apple Social Studies! I am a Social Studies Teacher in New York City striving to deeply engage students in cultivating their own learning experiences and applying our studies to their own personal worldview. This exciting blog will share various activities used in my classroom to engage students and thoughts on instructional choices which may positively impact student engagement and achievement.

I like to utilize a flipped learning and problem-based learning environment approach to instruction. This was also the focal point of my doctoral research, which reflected a positive correlation between flipped learning environments and an increase in student participation, knowledge of social studies, and self-efficacy in the learning process.
